Am I Eligible to Enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan?

Post Doctoral Trainees are automatically enrolled in the health insurance plan unless a waiver form is submitted by September 12th.  Dependents of Postdocs can also be enrolled for the same coverage.

Eligible dependents of enrolled Post Doctoral Trainees may participate in the plan on a voluntary basis but must be enrolled within 30 days of the Post Doc start date.  Please contact Faith Bishop at or 615-343-7309 for further details. 

Students with a Qualifying Life Event

In order to add SHIP coverage based on a qualifying event, review the below eligibility document and click the “enroll” button. Enrollment must be within 31 days of the qualifying event. You may be requested to provide documentation verifying the date of the qualifying event (e.g. birth certificate, marriage license, I-94 travel history, boarding pass, letter showing a loss of coverage). Once you submit your request, the charges for the premium will be added to your student account. Coverage will be effective beginning the first day following your loss of coverage.

Dental & Vision

All Vanderbilt Post Doctoral Trainees and their dependents are eligible to voluntarily enroll in dental and vision coverage. These services are not administered by Academic HealthPlans.
Note: Dental and vision coverage is included in the medical plan for dependents under age 19.
